I'm in the middle of a shift.

For too long I have looked at everything I do as something which needs to be transferred to someone else. For too long I have viewed myself as only a conduit to others. For too long I have thought it wasn't about me, but rather I needed to take it to everyone else. Everything.

This is what your Christmas is missing!

It's coming up on Christmas, my friends. And those that are parents are wondering what to do this year. Three gifts, or Santa gifts? Elf on a shelf or one of the many alternatives. And those without children are wondering if there is any magic in the season. Have I got a treat for all of you! My friend wrote a book sharing a Christmas tradition her family did and she still does. The twist is it's about doing for someone else rather than simply receiving. It's called the "12 Days of Christmas."

Mercy leads to a grateful heart.

Sometimes you read another person's words and realize they are speaking your heart. I changed my Facebook cover picture last Thursday and the quote was perfect. "A noble heart is a thankful heart which loves to acknowledge whenever it has received any mercy." (Jeremiah Burroughs) I found the words to express how I was feeling for I knew without a doubt it was mercy I received that day.

What you share is inspirational and encouraging.

You may or may not have seen the video about the first person to run a marathon without telling anyone about it. I laughed a little when I watched it because it did bring to light what social media does. Some share everything, don't we? And some people don't share a lot at all. It's quite person specific, but this is what the video really made me consider: I want to thank you.

9 Safety tips to keep you safe around your own car

When I am out and about you can generally find my transportation to be that of a car. We named ours Peggy, and she's good at adventuring and errands both. The only time I have ever been frightened in my car is when a friend scared me. I was sitting in the drivers seat, windows down, checking my phone before I headed out. He walked up to the car and spoke to me through the passenger's side back window. Had it not been someone with good intentions I would have been in trouble. I have heard other stories, though, of close calls and near misses. There are things we all need to consider about staying safe in and around our car.
