Truth Wraps: August Giveaway

For those of you who have been following along with me this past month, you know it has been one of change. For those of you who may be new here today, Welcome! A few days ago my oldest left for Basic Training.

Let me say I am unequivocally thrilled and excited for him.  He has been working towards this dream for many years. For him to be able to walk it out and fulfill it is awesome. I couldn't be a happier mommy.

With that being said, he is missed already. Change can be good, exciting, and waited on but that doesn't always mean it is easy. We grow and work hard to stay positive, and we know without a doubt in our brain that this is what is to be. We wouldn't want it any other way. Yet somehow we still have a tendency to remember what was and wish (just a little bit) that it could have stayed that way forever.

In an attempt to get myself and everyone else over this hump I am challenging you to let go of what was and grasp what is with both hands fully. Let me know I'm not alone in this season. Let me know how excited you are about the changes, or how it breaks your heart a little, or what changes you wish could happen. Give me the ability to cheer you on!!

This afghan is "Hope". I think with every change which is made we hope for the best for ourselves or whoever it affects. We can choose to stay focused, and on the hard days I hope this Truth Wrap is a reminder to you that there is always Hope.

  1. Stacey, this one is absolutely beautiful! I love the colors!!

If you've read my post, you know I'm dealing with not getting to go visit some friends as I've been planning to do since Jan. Grrr. I'm trusting to Lord to work it out in the future.

    1. Mary Beth, I am sorry you weren't able to go on the trip. Unexpected quick change is sometimes harder than the kind you see coming. ((hugs))

  3. I too am in the midst of a time of major change. I lost my vibrant, active, wonderful mom to a very brief bought of cancer last month. On December 1st my husband and I are losing the hotel kitchen we've run our catering business from for the past 23 years. We're taught in Scripture to be thankful in all circumstances. The amazing thing about walking with the Lord is that He gives us so much to be thankful for, even in the midst of very difficult times. I look back through my life and recall how faithful and trustworthy He's been throughout my life. I remind myself that He does not change and is faithful to His character. There's such a sense of security in knowing that. How blessed we are.

Lifting you and your family up in prayer. Just like your wrap was made with love and will envelope some blessed person with warmth~ I pray you would be enveloped with Gods love and warmth in a special way today.

  4. Hi, I'm Jen and I'm facing possible surgery for female issues (said in an AA kind of way). With 4 munchkins to care for this worries me, saddens me, and also gives me hope. Worry about who's going to fix dinner, do my laundry, clean my toilets? Sad because this means any hope of more children is gone. 4 is enough but is it all God has for me? Hope that I won't have to live a tired, headachey, crampy life anymore.
I'll share on facebook which will mean my chances of winning are slimmer, but that's ok. =)

    1. Oh, your chances are the same as everyones silly. :)

It seems your changes are going to make you reassess some things, but know that it's all covered. God's got you!

  5. This whole last year has been one of change for me... less on the outside, and more on the inside. Maybe that's not right, I guess it's both. Changing my relationships, changing who I am on the inside. Becoming who I want to be.

As school begins, I'm looking to continue those changes... most importantly being a more present mom and wife.

    Love you!

  6. Stacey, the last whole year has been riddled with changes for me. The one foremost in my mind as I read your post was about my friendships. God has been shifting me away from many friendships and asking me to step out and trust Him with relationships that reflect his love. I have a guest post coming out in a couple of weeks about one that shattered terribly. It's kinda scary. Blogging has plunged me into a whole new world of online friendships, which is really outside the box. I am over the moon excited to meet some of them in October. I know I already won an awesome afghan, so I hope it isn't bad form to comment here. If I happen to win again, I have a sweet friend, whom I'm holding onto, who could use some hope right now.

    1. First, never bad form! Second, I have dealt with friendship turn over and it can be very hard. Even when we are the ones making the changes, or feel they need to be made, it isn't easy. I look forward to reading your post so make sure you let us know where it is!

    2. Thanks, Stacey. It will be on Friday, Sept. 14th at Mary DeMuth's. I will probably be asking for help sharing the link on that day;)

  7. BEAUTIFUL!!! Stacey- your work is lovely and your generosity is beautiful.
Hope means so very much to me. It is what we named our baby that we lost in miscarriage. It is the sign that hangs on my kitchen wall. It is most recently what I have been clinging to as my Daddy drifts further away in his alzheimers.
For some reason the song "My hope is built on nothing less, than Jesus' blood and righteousness...On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand" keeps running through my head these days.
    Love you, sweet friend!

  8. On Sunday, our oldest will move out, and into residence at University. My head knows that it's time, and right and a great thing for her...but it is not an easy thing to convince my heart. I feel like there have been so many changes, and now this, this is big...

  9. Something has changed recently in my life. After 10 years in a demanding job that left me very stressed and with chronic daily pain, the Lord provided an open door for me to switch jobs. It involved a pay cut, but there are so many other benefits to this job that the other did not have. The ten-year waiting period was used by the Lord to press me as though I were a wrinkled bed sheet, and has helped me rely on Him for peace while enduring the awfully long wait. The chronic pain hasn't left yet, but I believe, as I re-learn what it means to be free in Christ, it, too will subside and eventually leave. He is my Hope and Salvation...who else can I turn to?

  10. The biggest change for me right now is my oldest turned 16 over the summer. He got his driving permit and his first job over the last few weeks. He has really started talking more and more about college. All of this has brought the reality of him growing up close. I admit has even caused a few weepy moments.
So glad to have found you here in the blogging community. Am now following you on Facebook and Twitter as well.
    Blessings! Wendy

    1. Oh that is a change I will be facing at the beginning of the year. My youngest will be 16 then and getting his license soon thereafter. Try not to face the changes which are too far in the future. Sounds like you have enough in the moment as it is. :)
