Fear Grips, Truth Wraps:: Giveaway

I was thrilled last month doing our first giveaway. I so hope that you will try again for the Truth Wrap this month. I know it belongs to one of you, but if you don't enter you wont get it! I can't wait to see whose it is.

The sun shines through the window at times our eyes are normally closed. The school work has been set aside if little feet run through the house. The gardens are flourishing and some harvesting has already begun. While we are still tiptoeing into the season, Summer is here.

I always find it interesting how Summer brings the chaos out just a little. Routines seem to vanish, even for those who work. We try to fit in vacations, try to fit in downtime, try to make some moment during this season which makes us feel as if we are young again. The beach? An amusement park? The planning and packing drives us crazy. We are always glad once we are home back in our own beds. But the expectations leading up to the trip fill our heart, and prayerfully the memories last forever.

But what about those routines? Even in the midst of trip chaos you can have routines. Even as the sun rises earlier and sets later, what during those hours help keep your heart at peace? Do you set time aside for what does your heart good?

My days are longer for my puppy seems to follow the sun more than I do. There is more free time because the school work has been set aside until after Labor Day. And even oldest will no longer be employed soon. So what do we do? I could plan a huge vacation, but truth be told that is not in the finances this year. So instead I try to put in routines which will keep us enjoying each other's company along the way. I get up with the dog, write in the silence, continue chores on their days, have begun setting time in the afternoon for reading, and will plan a few day trips on a smaller scale.

I know summer isn't necessarily the time for afghans, but when the AC blows cold it may be nice to have something to drape over you. Moreover they will wrap around you like truth does, finding peace in a moment of chaos. What better way to celebrate the current season than with "Golden Sunrise." When you envelop yourself in this afghan I pray it reminds you how much you are loved. I hope it reminds you peace is within and without.

This afghan is 34"x40" and made of I love this yarn! yarn from Hobby Lobby.

If you are interested in winning this afghan for yourself or someone you know please:
  1. Comment on this post.
  2. Tell me if you have any plans for the summer, big or small.

  1. Hey Stacey - another beautiful afghan and this one LOOKS like summer.

My plans for the summer are to basically take it easy and make plans for the new school year. Well, I'm also planning on losing a ton of weight!! :)

My routine as of late is to get up, put on workout clothes before I take meds, eat or anything and go for a walk while it is still coolish. It keeps peace for me because I KNOW I am doing SOMEthing to change the thing that keeps me down!

I think it is going to be a great summer!!

  2. Lovely!!!! We have big and small plans. We leave for a 2 week vacation on Sunday- unexpected and so blessed! We will be doing zoo trips, trips to the beach (we live on Lake Ontario), bike rides, local amusement parks, a library scavenger hunt, VBS.
We keep routines by sharing breakfast, lunch and dinner as a family. It is so fun to have the oldest 2 home during the day- it makes it so much more fun to make lunches!
We framed our summer "to-do" list to make sure we get everything in.
Loving summer!!! And love the Truth Wraps!!!

    1. Oh! If I could do three meals with my family I would so do the lunch as the biggest meal. :D If not breakfast. LOL I'm so glad you have the summer with all of them. Framing your to do list sounds like a great idea!

  3. My only plan for the summer is to get through it to the fall. I really dislike heat and humidity but love the cooler weather of spring and fall. Since my wonderful husband's building a deck I'll have a shady spot underneath it to read/nap as well as a table on top to do school or just sit and read at! =)

The best way I've found to keep the peace in our house is to have everyone go to a different area of the house and do something quiet - read, listen to music, nap/rest, draw, color, etc.

    I'll share on facebook.

    1. Jen, I so agree on the dislike of the heat. It seems to me you can always add another blanket. ;) I hope you enjoy your new deck.

  4. I just love the truth wrap! We are currently on our vacation for the summer right now. We plan to head up to my aunt's next week to help in the garden, too. Part of my routine is to wake up early to Bible study and prayer (Hello Mornings).

Lovely post! I need to remember to take it easy and rest. Sometimes, I just pack our schedule so full and forget to take things easy.

  5. This is my first time here but a dear friend, fellow blogger turned me on to your site! This Summer is halfway done for us as we start our homeschooling year last week in July and wrap it up end of April! Just works for the vacations better, so we have already done the zoo, beach, trip up north and will soon be doing another trip! My routine as of lately is to keep up with my two little boys and steer my two older girls into activities that keep them from being bored!:) love your blog and that truth wrap would be a nice gift to my husbands step father who is In hospice now! God Bless

    1. Ah, I had visions of doing that when mine were younger, but they really liked having the same days off the schools had. I'm so glad it works for you because I agree it does make vacations better. Less crowds. :) I will be praying for your husband's step father.

  6. Hi Stacey!

Here - high in the Sierra Mountains - the evenings are cool. I spend many hours in the dusk waiting for the last rays of sunlight to disappear behind the mountains that encircle the town I live in now. Your beautiful afghan reminds me of a summer sunset - and that's where I routinely go to gather my peace, a quiet spot to watch as day's end brings in the chill of nighttime air.

I'll be going to the Taylorsville Solar Cookoff in a couple of weeks and that very may well be followed by a trip to the Black Rock Desert in Nevada. Anytime I leave my home I'm out on an adventure - It's been a really nice summer so far. And if I only got to go up into the hills for picnic (like we did on Tuesday)? I could say I have had an excellent summer.

Hope your summer is NOT routine, Stacey - May it be full of special moments and memorable happenings!

  7. Oh, I love it! You are so talented!

This summer we will be swimming in our pool. And starting school soon too. Since it is so hot, and we are inside anyway, might as well start school. :0)

Routine to keep the peace? HA! No peace in my house. Ever.

    1. I have SEEN your lovely new pool. :) I am having to tie my boys down to keep them inside right now. LOL They seem to not care about the heat as much as I do.
